Bhubaneswar: The health condition of the six-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her relative (also a minor) here on Tuesday, continues to remain critical and an eight-member team of doctors is monitoring her, authorities of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack informed today.

Emergency Officer of the medical, Bhubanananda Moharana informed that the minor girl is currently undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital and she is still critical.

“All possible medical assistance is being provided to the survivor with the help of an 8-member team of specialists which is closely monitoring her condition,” Moharana said.

Meanwhile, Cuttack district judge, Satyanarayan Mishra visited and enquired about the health of the survivor at the hospital. He also spoke to the family members of the minor girl.

The survivor, a six-year-old girl of Mahisakhal locality under Laxmisagar police limits in Bhubaneswar was allegedly raped by her relative, a 13-year-old boy, while she was alone in her house.

The matter came to light after the health condition of the girl deteriorated and she was admitted to a local hospital in Bhubaneswar and later transferred to Cuttack SCB.

The police suo motu registered a case of rape and detained the accused.

The incident, after coming to light, triggered outrage and Congress workers had gheraoed the Laxmisagar Police Station.

Terming the incident shameful, former Kendrapara MP, Baijayant Panda tweeted "We still live in a society where girls are unsafe even within confines of their houses. The case highlights the mentality that has bn promoted in our society. The misogynistic & chauvinist attitudes with which children are nurtured would lead to such mishaps."
