Minor boy stabbed in Baripada, shifted to Cuttack in critical condition

A minor boy was reportedly stabbed near Bhanjpur station in Odisha's Baripada late on Friday night while visiting the Jagaddhatri fair. The incident, which left the boy critically injured.

A minor boy was reportedly stabbed near Bhanjpur station in Odisha's Baripada late on Friday night while visiting the Jagaddhatri fair. The incident, which left the boy critically injured, has raised concern over security arrangements during the fair.

The victim has been identified as Akash Nayak from Budhamara area.

According to reports, a group of boys from Budhamara village had gone to Bhanjpur to visit the Jagaddhatri fair. During their visit, an argument broke out between them and a few local youths from the area. Later, when Akash went outside the fairground near Bhanjpur station to relieve himself in a dimly lit area, some local youths allegedly followed him and attacked him with a knife.

Police Rescue and Hospital Transfer

The Government Railway Police (GRP) team rushed to the spot after receiving information and rescued the injured minor, who was found in a pool of blood. He was initially admitted to Baripada Medical College and Hospital for treatment. However, as his condition worsened, doctors referred him to CuttackSCB Medical College and Hospital.

GRP officials have launched an investigation into the incident. They are verifying the identities of those involved in the altercation, as sources said.
