A shocking case of violence has emerged from Patharapalli village under the Kabisuryanagar Police limits in Ganjam district, where a minor boy allegedly beat an elderly man to death. The altercation reportedly began over a seemingly trivial issue, a neighbour’s mongoose entering another house and eating chicken which escalated into a heated dispute between two households.

Quarrel Turns Fatal

According to local reports, the disagreement soon took a violent turn. In the midst of the confrontation, the minor is said to have struck the elderly man with a stick, fatally injuring him. The sudden and brutal nature of the attack has left villagers stunned.

“My grandfather had bought chicken today, but a mongoose from the neighbours’ house ate it. He confronted them, saying the mongoose was destroying things and needed to be restrained. Despite repeated requests, they did not tie it up. My grandfather threw a stick, and it accidentally hit the mongoose. In a fit of rage, the minor attacked and killed my grandfather inside the house,” said Tapan Mohanty, a relative of the deceased.

Accused on the Run

Following the incident, the minor accused fled the scene. Police have initiated an investigation and are attempting to trace the boy. Officers at Kabisuryanagar Police Station have begun collecting statements and examining circumstances leading to the fatal assault.

The incident has highlighted how minor disputes can spiral into tragic consequences. As police continue their search for the accused minor, villagers remain in disbelief over the senseless killing that has shaken the community.
