Odisha recorded a noticeable rise in daytime temperatures on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, with maximum temperatures touching or exceeding 30 degrees Celsius at 19 locations across the state, according to official meteorological data.
As per the data by IMD, Bhubaneswar emerged as the hottest location, registering a maximum temperature of 32.3 degrees Celsius. It was followed by Jharsuguda and Paradeep, both recording 31.4 degrees Celsius. Bhadrak and Paralakhemundi reported identical highs of 31.2 degrees Celsius, while Angul recorded 31.1 degrees Celsius.
Jagatsinghpur touched 31.0 degrees Celsius, with Sambalpur at 30.8 degrees Celsius and Puri close behind at 30.7 degrees Celsius. Khordha and Chatrapur recorded maximum temperatures of 30.5 degrees Celsius each.
Several other locations also reported temperature slightly above 30 degrees Celsius, including Bhawanipatna, Bolangir, Baripada and Gopalpur, all at 30.2 degrees Celsius. Sundergarh, Titlagarh, Talcher and Phulbani each recorded a maximum of exactly 30.0 degrees Celsius.
Dry Weather Likely To Continue
As per Bhubaneswar Met Centre, there is currently no active weather system influencing the state, and dry weather conditions are expected to prevail over most parts of Odisha in the coming days. Forecasters indicated that there is unlikely to be any major fluctuation in temperatures during this period.
While no cold-related warnings are in force, light to moderate fog may persist at isolated locations, particularly during early morning hours, till January 26.
Gradual Warming Trend Observed
Weather experts noted that the consistent rise in daytime temperature indicates a gradual seasonal shift. They added that temperature may rise further by around three to four degrees Celsius over the next few days, as winter conditions continue to weaken across the region.
