Bhubaneswar: The Smart City of Bhubaneswar is all set for a massive makeover ahead of the mega Men’s Hockey World Cup to be held at Kalinga Stadium from November 28.

Apart from being the key sponsor of team India, Odisha which will also be the host for other participating teams is now gearing up for the mega event.

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today reviewed the progress of various works at the second meeting of City Beautification and Infrastructure Committee for the Hockey World Cup.

According to sources, a decision has been taken to revamp several bus stops, undertake development of roads and restoration of footpaths. Moreover, the entire city will painted with several interesting wall paintings with hockey as the theme, informed sources.

“A major beautification drive will be undertaken in Bhubaneswar ahead of the hockey world cup” said Padhi.

Meanwhile, concerns were expressed over the tardy progress of the laying of underground electricity cables being undertaken by Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL).

“It was the second meeting of the city beautification and infrastructure committee. Today, we discussed about development of roads, plantation drives and wall paintings based on world cup hockey theme,” said BMC Commissioner Krishan Kumar.
