As the Matriculation examination draws closer, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha has stepped up preparations with the dispatch of question papers to nodal centres beginning on Tuesday across the State. The exercise comes nine days ahead of the start of the annual exam and is being carried out under strict security measures.

Officials said the movement of question papers is being conducted in a phased manner, with special focus on ensuring safety and adherence to laid-down protocols, particularly in sensitive regions of the state.

Question Papers to Reach All Nodal Centres by Feb 17

There are 322 nodal centres across the state for the storage of question papers, including centres set up in 17 Maoist-affected police station areas. The BSE has stated that all question papers will reach the nodal centres by the February 17 through approved and designated routes only. The Board President has made it clear that no deviation from the specified routes will be allowed.

To strengthen security, GPS tracking and mobile tracking systems have been put in place. Armed police personnel have been deployed, and cameras have been installed during transportation. Maoist-affected districts such as Malkangiri, Rayagada, Koraput and Kalahandi will receive the question papers first, with the target set to complete the process by the February 16.

Over 5.6 Lakh Students to Appear

The matriculation examination will be conducted from February 19 till March 2. A total of 5,61,979 students will appear for the examination this year across 3,082 examination centres in the state.

All centres will be under CCTV surveillance, allowing real-time monitoring of the examination process from the Board’s command control room, officials said.
