According to reports, the eviction drive was carried out to widen the road and facilitate the construction of a proper drainage system. The stretch had long been plagued by frequent waterlogging, with drainage water spilling onto the road and causing major inconvenience to commuters. This prompted the administration to step in and take corrective measures.

Local residents had long been demanding a permanent solution to the drainage problem. Acting on these complaints, officials from the district administration, police, and municipality jointly conducted the eviction drive in the presence of security personnel.

The drive is expected to improve road connectivity and prevent flooding in the busy market area once the drainage work is completed. Since the existing drain was too narrow, water frequently overflowed onto the road, worsening conditions during the monsoon. To address this, the administration has initiated a major drive to revamp both the road and the drainage system.

As part of the eviction process, structures that had encroached upon public land or extended house boundaries illegally were demolished using bulldozers. Locals have extended their support to the initiative, stressing the urgent need for a proper and long-term drainage solution to prevent recurring waterlogging in the area.
