Balasore: Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel and Sahadevkhunta Police in Balasore district on Sunday recovered the body of a woman from railway tracks near Arad Bazar.

The deceased, identified as Swarupa Mohanty, hailed from Singla village. While her husband works as a marine engineer in Mumbai, she was staying in the village with her 6-year-old son.

According to reports, Swarupa left her house last night leaving her son at home and was missing since then.

Speaking to the media, Swarupa's brother, Sushant Patra said, "She left the house last night saying that she was going to her neighbour's house. When she didn't return, my nephew called me and we searched for her all night only to find her lifeless body on the railway tracks."

"She neither had any dispute with her husband nor she was mentally disturbed," claimed Sushant.

Though it is suspected to be a case of suicide, police have launched further investigation from other angles to ascertain the exact cause of the death.
