Maoists to be eliminated by March 2026: Odisha Police DG

The DGP said the police have set a clear target to eradicate Maoist activities by March 2026.

Following the elimination of top Maoist leader Ganesh Uike, Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania made a strong statement on Thursday, asserting that Maoists will be completely eliminated by 2026.

The DGP said the police have set a clear target to eradicate Maoist activities by March 2026. He added that the state’s policy on Maoist surrender is one of the best in the country and has been yielding positive results.

Urging Maoists to abandon the path of violence, Khurania appealed to them to surrender and join the mainstream, assuring that the government is committed to their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

"The Union Home Minister has called upon the security forces to eradicate Maoist activities by March 2026, and both the State Government and the Odisha Police have accepted this challenge. We are making every possible effort to eliminate Maoist activities within the stipulated timeframe, and the Odisha Police have already achieved significant success in this direction," said Odisha DGP Y B Khurania.

"I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all those who have participated in and supported this drive. The operation is currently underway and progressing steadily. Once again, I appeal to all the Maoists to shun the path of violence and return to the mainstream of society," he added.
