As part of the relief measures, the family of the woman who was brutally murdered earlier will receive Rs 10 lakh as compensation. Those whose houses were destroyed in a fire will be provided Rs 75,000 each, while shop owners affected by the incident will receive Rs 20,000 each.

Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said the government is committed to restoring peace and brotherhood in the region.

Tensions had erupted between Rakhelguda and MV-26 following the gruesome murder of a woman. Acting on Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s directions, Deputy CM Singh Deo and Minister Gokulananda Mallik had visited Malkangiri, held discussions with both sides, and later submitted a detailed report to the Chief Minister.

Based on this report, the government finalised the 10-point action plan.

Key decisions include resolving land disputes, providing permanent land titles to landless tribal families, and granting land Pattas (Records of Right) to people displaced due to the Machhkund project.

District Collector has been instructed to submit monthly progress reports to ensure effective implementation.

Worth mentioning, the district administration had estimated the total damage caused due to violence at around Rs 3.80 crore. Officials said extensive damage was reported to public and private properties during the unrest.

Police had arrested six more persons on December 14 last year in connection with the violent clash reported from the MV-26 locality of Malkangiri district, taking the total number of arrests in the violence case to 15.
