Lockdown Extended: Odisha Schools Not To Reopen On June 17

Bhubaneswar: Schools in Odisha which remained closed in view of COVID-19-induced lockdown will not reopen on June 17 as announced earlier, informed State School and Mass Education Minister Samir Dash on Sunday.

Earlier the State government had decided to reopen all educational institutes in the state on June 17. However, as per the latest guidelines issued by the central government, schools have been asked to stay shut in the month of June and can resume from the month of July. The specific date of reopening is yet to be decided by the centre considering the COVID situation in the month of July.

Speaking about the evaluation of +2 examinations answer sheets, Dash said that the examination paper checking of science and commerce streams will start from tomorrow. The answer sheets have been scanned and the evaluation will be conducted through online mode.

On the other hand, the evaluation of Arts and Vocational courses will start from next week.
Dash further said, "State government will assess the situation in the first week of July and take decision accordingly. There are 23 pending examinations of Plus II council which will be finished at the earliest with strict adherence to COVID protocols."
