Chatrapur: The Government Railway Police (GRP) today recovered the mutilated body of a lady doctor from the railway tracks near Chatrapur Railway Station. The deceased woman has been identified as Dr Archana Das while her husband Dr Anjan Das is currently working as an anaesthesia specialist in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

What’s more shocking in the incident is that the family of the woman has alleged that she was being harassed physically and mentally by her husband and in-laws which ultimately forced her to take the extreme step.

As per the allegations of the family members, a few days ago when Archana suffered from a brain stroke, her husband and in-laws did not pay much heed and ignored because of which she was deprived of proper treatment. As such, she had been staying with her parents in Chatrapur.

They further alleged that ten days back Archana received a divorce notice from her husband Dr Anjan. This, according to them, was why she was in mental duress.

Father of Archana, Raghunath Das burst into tears saying, “She was repeatedly reading the notice of the family court in which her husband had leveled many false allegations against her. She was in a state of shock after getting the notice and finally she took this step. She was being tortured by her in-laws especially her mother-in-law.”

Meanwhile, police, after recovering her body have sent it for post-mortem.

“The dead body has been despatched. We can only ascertain the exact reason of her death after getting the post-mortem reports. Further investigation is on," said Sukant Bhoi, IIC GRP, Chatrapur.
