Koraput: Taking a humongous leap in her career, lady constable Ritu Singh serving with Odisha Police has proved that women, though have one life to live like others, can do wonders like none else. She has cracked the State Civil Services Examination 2018 conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), securing 204 rank leaving behind lakhs of aspirants.

An epitome of hard work, the woman from Jeypore in Koraput district has many milestones backing her.

At a very early age, Ritu dreamt of being a cricketer and she did not disappoint herself as she eventually went on to become the skipper of Odisha women's cricket team.

After a few years, she joined police service as a Constable. It was during this period that she pondered over taking up a career with the Odisha Administrative Services.

Ritu has garnered a lot of praises from all quarters because of the fact that she has cleared the exams without any coaching or tuition.

“I was in bus, returning from police department, when I received a phone call from my brother-in-law. The moment he said OPSC results are out, I felt my nerves would burst. A panicky me, then decided to scroll the phone to check the results. I was so happy to see that I have cleared the exam with 204 position,” said an elated Ritu.

“My preparation was so tough that on some days I could not realize the day-night-morning transition. Moreover, it is difficult for sports persons to stick to books for hours together. Rest, I had the blessings of my family members. It is because of their immense support that I am what I am today,” she said.

On the basis of the Personality Test of Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Examination, 2018 held from December 12-28, 2019, the Commission has provisionally selected 218 candidates for appointment to the post/services coming under the Odisha Civil Services (Group A and Group B). 24-year-old Debasis Panda of Bonai in Sundergarh district has topped the 2018 OCS examination.
