Bhubaneswar: Actor Kuna Tripathy officially took charge as the chairman of the Odisha Film Development Corporation (OFDC) today.

Kuna, best known for hosting OTV’s popular news spoof program ‘News-Fuse', said that steps will be taken for the development of Odisha film industry and very soon a film policy will also be introduced.

Revival of Kalinga Studio which has already begun will be completed, said Kuna, stating further that Rs 35 lakh has been allocated for the renovation work of Chalachitra Bhawan that will begin soon.

"The office of OFDC -Chalachitra Bhawan- will be a state-of-the-art building. Kalinga Studio's renovation work has already begun and it will be ensured that it is done properly," said Kuna.

Odia actor Bijay Mohanty praised Kuna and said that people of the film industry have faith in him.

"We have a lot of expectations from Kuna babu. We believe in him and he has never let us down. When he joined as Chairman, the people of the film industry were the happiest ones," said Mohanty.

Kuna was appointed chairman of OFDC on May 10 by Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik.

Kuna has worked in Odia movies like Love Dot Com (2009), Bandhu (2007) and Mo Dil Kahe Ilu Ilu (2015).

OFDC, established in 1976, is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Government of Odisha.
