Koraput district in Odisha continues to grapple with severe cold conditions, as a dense blanket of fog engulfs the region. Over the past few days, the district has been reeling under an intense cold wave, with temperatures plunging sharply.
The biting cold wave has disrupted daily life across Koraput, with several areas recording extremely low minimum temperatures. Dasmantpur, Lamtaput, Patangi, Sunabeda, and Laxmipur blocks reported minimum temperatures below 6.5 degrees Celsius.
Youth Embrace Exercise To Beat The Cold
In addition to the cold wave, dense fog has further affected normal life, significantly reducing visibility across the region. Despite the harsh conditions, local youth have taken to regular exercise and fitness routines to stay warm and maintain good health during the winter months.
One youth said, “I reach the ground between 5.30 and 5.45 in the morning, when the temperature is around 5 to 6 degrees Celsius. We begin with basic exercises and later move to the gym. It’s a good habit to develop, as regular workouts are essential for a healthy lifestyle.”
Another youth shared, “I arrive at the stadium around 5.30 am. Driving through dense fog in the early morning is very difficult, but we still make it. We do drills, stretching, and Surya Namaskar every day. Through this, we want to encourage today’s youth to exercise regularly and lead a fit, healthy life.”
Meanwhile, authorities have advised residents, especially the elderly and children, to remain cautious, as cold and foggy conditions are likely to persist in the coming days.
