The fourth evening of the 36th Konark Festival on Thursday showcased captivating Manipuri and Odissi performances at the Konark Open-Air Auditorium. The annual cultural event is being organised with the support of the State Tourism Department in collaboration with the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Odisha Tourism Development Corporation.
The evening began with artistes from Bimbabati Devi’s Manipuri Nartanayalay in Kolkata presenting a Manipuri rendition of Krishna Raasleela. This was followed by Odissi performances led by Guru Bharat Charan Giri and artistes from Bharati Nartya Mandir, Bhubaneswar. Their presentation featured Pallavi and Gajanan, a piece depicting the divine origin of Lord Ganesha, and kept the audience thoroughly engaged.
Sand Art Festival Draws Massive Crowds
At Chandrabhaga beach, the fourth day of the 36th International Sand Art Festival drew thousands of visitors as artists showcased sculptures themed around Incredible India and Odisha Tourism. The diverse sand creations attracted spectators throughout the day.
Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan attended as the chief guest, while Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra graced the event as the honoured guest.

“The festival has always reflected Odia asmita,” said Law Minister Harichandan. “Each year’s celebration, with renowned dancers and artists from across the world, has upheld the event’s artistic excellence.”
