In a significant development, Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) Chairperson- Babita Patra visited the residence of the deceased KISS student on Monday, in connection with the alleged murder case.

Patra reportedly reached Tikargumura village under Keonjhar Sadar block, where the student’s family resides, and held detailed discussions with the family members.

As per reports, the OSCPCR chairperson inquired into the circumstances surrounding the incident and assured that a strong and impartial investigation is being conducted into the KISS student’s death.

"I held discussions with the family members of the deceased and the villagers. The family has expressed that such an incident should never happen to any other student studying at KISS. We will ensure that the KISS authorities remain vigilant and ensure the safety and security of all the students henceforth. I am thankful to the parents for lodging a complaint at the police station, as it helped bring the truth to light. Everyone concerned will exercise greater caution in the future. I believe important lessons will be learned from this incident, and concrete steps will be taken to ensure the safety and security of all the students. If similar incidents have occurred in the past, irrespective of who is involved, they must be thoroughly investigated, and strict action must be initiated against the culprits," said OSCPCR Chairperson Babita Patra.

Earlier a couple of days back, Patra, accompanied by two commission members, had visited the KISS campus to conduct an inquiry after the student’s death triggered widespread concern.
