The child rights body chief emphasised that the doctors who submitted ‘incorrect reports’ should face thorough investigation and accountability. “We have written letters seeking action against those responsible,” she expressed.

Chairperson Patra also questioned why the local police were not informed about critical developments and expressed concern over the transfer of the body without conducting a post-mortem. “How was the body handed over without an autopsy, and how did the Infocity police remain unaware of this?” she asked, highlighting procedural lapses in the investigation.

The OSCPCR chairperson’s statements underline the urgency for a detailed inquiry into the case and demand strict accountability from both medical and law enforcement authorities to ensure justice for the deceased student.

“When I discussed with the KISS authorities, they told me, they found a boy (student) was lying in the bathroom on Friday morning at around 10.00 AM. Two other children had rushed and informed them that a boy/dead body was on the floor. Thinking him to be alive, they had taken the boy (to KIMS hospital) for treatment,” the OSCPCR chief said quoting the KIMS doctors.

“However, doctors at the health facility (KIMS) had declared the boy (received) dead. The most astonishing thing is: the minor’s body was handed over to his parents the same day without conducting a post-mortem,” Patra further said.

“School authorities (at KISS) are at fault. Moreover, why had the KIMS doctors not informed the local police?” Chairperson Patra questioned.

Worth mentioning, the Chairperson had visited KISS yesterday to take stock of the case.
