Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's innovative initiative, 'Sansad Khel Mahotsav' is being held across multiple Lok Sabha constituencies in the country. Under the initiative, Kendrapara hosted a vibrant 'Sansad Khel Mahotsav' inaugurated by MP and party's National Vice-President Baijayant Panda at the Town High School ground on Saturday.
The event features competitions in eight categories across three phases. The sports festival aims to provide a platform for young athletes from schools, colleges, and rural areas to showcase their talent and gain recognition at national and international levels.
During his address, MP Baijayant Panda highlighted that the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad would offer an excellent opportunity for young Indian athletes to display their talent on a global stage.
On this occasion, Panda visited a chess competition being held at a local hotel. He also played volley and encouraged the players to perform well.
District BJP President Shashank Sethi, Mahakalpada MLA Durga Prasanna Nayak, State party Vice-President Bishnu Das, and several senior BJP leaders were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
"It's a great joy for me. I have been staying and playing outside. It's always a special feeling to play in one's own district. It feels great to perform on your own soil and before your own people. I was very happy to know about the Sansad Khel Mahotsav initiative taken by the government. Subsequently, I registered for the event, and I am feeling very happy to play with the teams from my villages," said Shibani Priyadarshini, a participant.
"Young talents from various areas are participating in the event. More than 50,000 participants have registered for the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, which is a matter of great pleasure. As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi, if the youngsters come forward and there is development of sports, our country will definitely develop," said Mahakalpada MLA Durga Prasanna Nayak.
