In a major breakthrough, Jharsuguda Police has cracked a high-profile robbery case by arresting 10 accused and recovering a huge quantity of stolen valuables, including cash, gold and silver ornaments, along with firearms and ammunition on Saturday.

According to police sources, on November 19, a gang of armed robbers looted cash and a large amount of jewellery from the residence of a businessman in Jharsuguda town. The incident had created panic among the local business community.

Following an intensive investigation and multiple raids at suspected locations, the police arrested 10 members of the gang and recovered the looted items. The seizure includes gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 67 lakh, silver ornaments valued at nearly Rs 25 lakh, and Rs 37 lakh in cash.

In addition to the stolen property, police also seized three pistols, 12 live bullets, and other dangerous weapons allegedly used by the accused for criminal activities. Preliminary investigation suggests that the arrested persons are part of a well-organised criminal network operating across different states.

Senior officers stated that further investigation is underway to identify other associates and trace the source of the firearms. Police have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests in the coming days.

“It was a blind case; we did not have any clue. We have arrested 10 accused, including two minors. The mastermind of the loot is Ashok Kumar Panda. We have recovered Rs 37 lakh cash and 512 grams of gold,” informed Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, Jharsuguda SP.

Meanwhile, the recovery of such a large volume of stolen valuables has brought relief to the victim and restored a sense of security among residents and traders in the district.
