Bhubaneswar: JEE Main Examination 2020 has begun at 233 cities across the country and abroad today. Over 30,000 candidates are appearing the topmost national level entrance in seven cities of Odisha- Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Sambalpur, Balasore, Rourkela and Dhenkanal.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), the conducting body of JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) has scheduled two sittings for the examination; the first one being 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM and the second sitting is from 02:30 PM till 05:30 PM.

For the first time, JEE Main is being conducted for three papers - separate paper each for B.Tech., B.Arch., and B.Planning. It will continue till January 9.

In an effort to put a leash on malpractice, the authorities have restricted entry of pen, pencils, watches, water bottle and any kind of electronic gadgets into the examination centres. Only the examinees of Architecture would be allowed to carry pen and pencil inside the centre during the exams.

As per reports, all the examination papers except Drawing would be conducted through computers and the pen and pencil required for rough work would be provided by the examination centre.

As per the NTA guidelines, the examination centres have tightened the security around. Entire centre would be put under CCTV surveillance and jammers would also be installed to restrict the in-coming and out-going cellular signal.

The result of phase one of the examination will be published on 31 January 2020. Students with good ranks will get a chance to enrol in NIT, IIT, IIIT and various government and private engineering colleges. Phase two of the JEE will be held in April 2020.
