Jay Dholakia, son of Late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, joins BJP

In a major political development, Jay Dholakia, son of the late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, on Saturday officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), dealing a significant setback to the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD in Odisha.
Reports suggest that Jay Dholakia is likely to be the BJP candidate for the upcoming Nuapada by-election, further intensifying the political battle in the region.

Jay Dholakia arrived at the Bhubaneswar BJP party office in a grand procession, accompanied by thousands of supporters, showcasing strong local backing. The state BJP leadership gave him a warm and elaborate welcome, signalling the party’s intent to strengthen its presence in the area.

The event was attended by prominent leaders, including Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, Deputy CM KV Singh Deo and President of Odisha BJP Manmohan Samal, along with a large gathering of senior party officials.

Beginning his speech with Jai Jagannath, CM Mohan Majhi said, “Today is a day for celebration because late Rajendra Dholakia’s son Jay Dholakia has joined our party. He has seen our work after coming to power and was so impressed that he joined our party. Because we believe in serving the people instead of just making fake promises.”

Party sources said Jay Dholakia is expected to formally assume his position within the BJP in the coming days, marking the beginning of his active political journey with the party.

The alliance with a prominent political scion like Jay Dholakia underscores the BJP’s growing influence and strategic positioning in Odisha politics.
