The Jajpur Additional District Judge and Special POCSO Court in Odisha sentenced a man to 20 years of imprisonment in a case involving the rape of a minor.
The court categorised the matter as serious and imposed both imprisonment and a financial penalty.
Conviction And Sentencing
The verdict was pronounced against Sanjay Sahu on Friday, who was found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor.
Alongside the 20-year sentence, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 5 lakh. The judgment was delivered after examining the statements of 13 witnesses.
Details Of The Case
According to reports, the accused used to loiter around the school area where the minor studied and harass her.
He later forcibly took her to a hotel, where he clicked obscene photographs. Subsequently, he threatened to make the images viral and forced physical relations with her. A complaint regarding the incident was lodged at Jajpur Road police station on January 2, 2025.

Lawyer’s Statement
Pratap Ray, the lawyer in the case, said: “He was regularly harassing the victim on her route. He took her to a lodge and sexually assaulted her. The POCSO Court has convicted him today, awarding 20 years of imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 5 lakh.”
