Cold wave conditions have significantly disrupted normal life in districts such as Kandhamal, Koraput, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the prevailing weather pattern is likely to continue for a few more days. The chill typically sets in soon after sunset, with its intensity remaining high from midnight through the early morning hours, making night-time conditions especially harsh.

Temperatures Below Normal In Several Cities

As per predictions issued by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, similar cold conditions are expected to persist for another five days. As many as 15 cities across the state recorded minimum temperature below 10 degrees Celsius. Phulbani reported temperature below 6 degree Celsius, while Jharsuguda recorded 6.2 degree Celsius. These conditions are likely to continue till January 4.

Dense Fog Affects Visibility And Movement

Dense fog was also reported across several parts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, further complicating commuting conditions. Reduced visibility forced motorists to use headlights and taillights even during early hours, slowing traffic movement in many areas.
