A Hindi teacher in Odisha’s Bhadrak district has found herself at the centre of a growing controversy after her dance videos on Instagram went viral. The lady teacher, popularly known among students as ‘Hindi Didi’, has reportedly been transferred four times within two months due to backlash over her social media presence.

The latest flashpoint occurred when she was transferred to Chandbali block’s historic Dakha High School. As soon as the news of her appointment spread, a group of parents and guardians staged strong protests, objecting to her inclusion in the school’s teaching staff.
The protests were fuelled by viral dance videos shared from her personal social media handles.
Parents allege that her content is ‘inappropriate for a teacher’ and not aligned with the values expected in an educational environment. They have warned that if the appointment is not reversed, they will lock the school gates and launch an agitation.
The incident has sparked tension, especially as it comes during the ongoing examination period. The matter has now reached the District Collector, and further administrative action is awaited.
This controversy has ignited fresh debate over teachers’ conduct on social media and professional boundaries in public service roles.
No comments were received from the Hindi Didi or the school authorities in this regard.
