The animal’s tongue was reportedly torn, leaving it unable to drink water or consume food, which severely worsened its condition.

Movement Traced Across Districts

According to forest officials, the elephant was first seen on December 13, moving from the Nilagiri area of Balasore district into the Betanati–Baisinga region under the Baripada Forest Division. Its injury and bleeding led to allegations that poison had been mixed into its food.
