As Cyclone Montha advances toward the East Coast, the Indian Railways has gone into full preparedness mode to minimize disruption and ensure passenger safety. In anticipation of the storm’s impact, war rooms have been activated at the Divisional, Zonal, and Board levels, enabling real-time coordination and rapid response across affected regions.
According to official sources, essential resources and manpower have been strategically deployed at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Guntur. Railway officials are maintaining round-the-clock vigilance, focusing on ensuring seamless communication and operational readiness to tackle any emergency that may arise during the cyclone’s landfall.

Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw personally reviewed the nationwide preparedness and has been in continuous contact with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, as well as senior railway officials. The coordination aims to ensure that both states and central agencies remain aligned in disaster response and resource mobilization.
The Minister emphasized that immediate restoration work will begin once the cyclone completes its landfall to ensure early normalization of train services and restoration of essential connectivity. He reaffirmed that the Indian Railways remains fully alert and committed to passenger safety, minimal disruption, and swift recovery in the wake of Cyclone Montha.
