IMD issues Yellow alert for dense fog in 4 Odisha districts during next 2 days

IMD issued a Yellow alert for dense fog in four Odisha districts—Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapara and Bhadrak—over the next two days, warning of poor visibility despite prevailing dry weather.

With no significant synoptic system lying in the region, dense fog is very likely to occur at isolated pockets in Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapara, and Bhadrak districts of Odisha during the next two days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted on Wednesday.

The IMD has issued Yellow alert in these four districts for January 29 and 30.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Dry weather has prevailed over the districts of Odisha during the last 24 hours. Minimum Temperature has observed an appreciable rise by about 2°C at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of the State.”

“They were below normal by about 2°C at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, above normal by about 2-3°C at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of the State. The highest maximum (day) temperature of 32.4°C was recorded at Paralakhemundi, and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 9.5°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha, yesterday,” the IMD bulletin read.

Warnings and forecasts in Odisha districts for the next two days:

For Wednesday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 29.01.2026)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at one or two places over the district of Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Puri, Angul, Kendrapara, Ganjam, Gajapati, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, and Jajpur.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Dense fog is very likely to occur at isolated pockets in the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapada, and Bhadrak.

For Thursday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 29.01.2026 to 0830 hrs IST of 30.01.2026)

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the districts of Odisha.

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur during early hours/morning hours at one or two places over the district of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Bhadrak, Kandhamal, and Cuttack.

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Dense fog is very likely to occur at isolated pockets in the districts of Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapara and Bhadrak.
