Illegal firearms factory busted in Nayagarh; two arrested Photograph: (otv)
In a major breakthrough, Nayagarh Police busted an illegal country-made firearms manufacturing unit on Sunday.
As many as two accused persons were arrested for their involvement in the firearms manufacturing unit. The arrested accused have been identified as Prashant Biswal and Tofan Nayak.
The information was shared by Nayagarh SP S Sushree during a press briefing.
According to reports, Ranpur Police first arrested Tofan Nayak of Damasahi area under Ranpur Police Station after receiving a tip-off that he was travelling on his bike carrying a country-made gun. Following his interrogation, police received further information that led the Sarankul Police to conduct a raid at a firearms manufacturing unit operating in Godipada.

During the raid, the prime accused, Prashant Biswal, was arrested. Police also seized another country-made gun along with various tools and equipment used for manufacturing firearms.
The Nayagarh SP informed that further investigation into the case is underway.
"After getting a tip-off, one of the suspected accused was intercepted and interrogated. He was riding a Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle. When his diki was searched under suspicion, a country- made pistol was found. Following his interrogation about the source of the gun, he told the name of Panda alias Prashant Biswal and gave his address. Our team reached Godipada and found a manufacturing unit of country-made weapons," said Nayagarh SP S Sushree.
