In a disturbing incident at Maa Brahmani temple in Korchabadi village under Mohana police limits in Gajapati district, a ‘human bone’ was allegedly found near the lion statue outside the temple on Tuesday.

Early in the morning, the temple priest, while preparing to conduct the daily puja, noticed the bone and alerted the villagers. The shocking discovery has forced the suspension of all religious rituals in the temple for the day.

Villagers have expressed deep concern and suspicion over who might have placed the skeletal remains at the sacred site. The temple managing committee and local residents jointly demanded a thorough investigation and swift action against those responsible.

The incident has left the community shaken, raising questions about safety and sanctity at the temple premises.

Police authorities have yet to comment on the ‘sensitive’ matter.

“After reaching the temple early in the morning, I cleaned the premises with a broom. Then I removed the stale flowers from near the lion statue. As I tried to pick the remaining flowers, I noticed a ‘human bone’ there,” the temple priest, Narendra Paika, expressed.

“It appeared to be a human skeletal remains with sindoor smeared on it. I thought, perhaps someone had performed black magic. Immediately, I informed the villagers,” Narendra said.

“Our temple priest saw in the morning that someone had kept a bone near the temple gate. After we were informed, we reached the shrine and witnessed the bone. We are unable to crack the mystery behind this. Hence, we demand a probe into it,” the temple managing committee president, Prafulla Dalai, stated.
