Horror in Odisha village: Stray dogs maul baby abandoned after birth, body found scattered in open field

A shocking and heart-wrenching incident came to light in Balasore district on Tuesday after villagers recovered parts of the body of an abandoned newborn from the mouths of stray dogs. The disturbing scene was reported near the playground of Balikatiran village under Chittal Panchayat within the jurisdiction of Soro police station.

The matter came to notice after villagers noticed a group of stray dogs roaming near the playground with what appeared to be human body parts. On closer inspection, it was confirmed that the remains belonged to a newborn infant. Alarmed by the sight, local residents immediately chased away the dogs and managed to retrieve some parts of the infant’s body.

The villagers promptly informed the Anantapur police outpost under the Soro police station about the incident. Acting swiftly, police personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the body parts. In the presence of local residents and following the necessary formalities, the police buried the remains with due respect.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the newborn may have been abandoned soon after birth and left in the open, making it vulnerable to stray animals. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the death of the infant are yet to be ascertained.

Police officials have initiated an investigation to identify those responsible and are examining nearby areas, including medical facilities and households, to gather clues. 

The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, with residents expressing deep anguish and calling for strict action against those involved in such inhumane acts.
