Bhubaneswar: Taking cognizance of several instances of online fraud, Odisha government has now come up with a secure platform from where people can book liquor online and get home delivery.

A special gateway has been created in the official website of Odisha State Beverages Corporation (OSBC) (www.https://osbc.co.in) from where the consumers can book liquor online and get home delivery of alcohol from their nearest retailer points.

The portal will act as a digital platform to bring all the retailers and consumers together to ensure smooth and hassle-free home delivery of liquor.

Informing about the development, Khurda Excise superintendent, Prasanna Kumar Acharya said, “The new facility has been introduced and people can register on OSBC website, place order and get home delivery of liquor.”

A customer has to first register on the official website using his/her registered mobile phone number. Later, an OTP will be sent for verification and a password will be generated. Once registered, a consumer will not have to register again on the website for booking liquor subsequently.

“The main idea is to facilitate sale of liquor while preventing online fraud,” said Acharya adding that soon additional features will be launched where consumers can also make online payment for liquor.

The portal will generate a challan containing the above details with MRP & delivery charges.

The retailers can aggregate all the orders at one place which makes it convenient for them to handle. Since all the orders get registered in the portal, it automatically generates the record of each transaction and frees the retailer from the hassle of maintaining another register.

Earlier, Odisha Excise department had directed ON/OFF IMFL shops to display their phone numbers before the outlets for booking by customers. As per Odisha govenrment’s guidelines, home delivery of liquor can be done by retailers directly and also through agencies like food aggregators, standard technology platforms etc.

At present (till May 31), 1,351 retailers are offering home delivery of liquor across the state. Besides, four aggregators- Zomato, Swiggy, Hip Bar & Dunia online Pvt. Ltd. have been granted permission (NOC) to deliver liquor online in the State.

Till May 31, out of 2,46,852 home delivery orders received, 2,42,038 orders were fulfilled by the retailers as well as aggregators.
