Heavy rush at Puri Srimandir as devotees throng for Lord Jagannath’s darshan

Heavy crowding was witnessed once again at the Srimandir in Puri on Sunday as a large number of devotees thronged the holy shrine for darshan of Lord Jagannath.

Heavy crowding was witnessed once again at the Srimandir in Puri on Sunday as a large number of devotees thronged the holy shrine for darshan of Lord Jagannath.

Long queues of pilgrims stretched across the Bada Danda, creating a packed yet devotional atmosphere in and around the temple premises. Devotees stood patiently for several hours, chanting prayers and waiting for a glimpse of the deities.

Many devotees shared emotional accounts of their visit. A pilgrim from Bihar said the family had been wishing to visit the shrine for many years. “We will first take a glimpse of the Lord and then visit other places,” he said.

Another devotee, who arrived with his son, expressed faith in the deity’s blessings. “I have heard that the Lord listens to every devotee. I came here with the belief that my son would recover, as he has difficulty speaking,” he said.

Expressing unwavering devotion, another pilgrim said, “We will have darshan even if we have to stand here longer than usual.”

The rush increased significantly as it was Sunday, with devotees arriving from nearby districts as well as from outside the state. Adequate police personnel and temple administration officials were deployed to regulate the crowd and ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims.

Despite the heavy rush and long waiting hours, devotees remained steadfast, expressing deep faith and devotion while waiting for darshan at the revered shrine.
