The Health Department on Monday raided an alleged illegal clinic operating in the Birmaharajpur sub-divisional headquarters area of Odisha’s Sonepur district. The action was carried out at Sandhya Medicine Store following specific inputs about unlawful medical activities being conducted on the premises.
During the raid, officials seized a stock of medicines and various clinic-related equipment. The action is part of an ongoing crackdown on unauthorised healthcare operations in the region.
Medicines and Instruments Seized
According to health officials, medicines and clinical instruments suspected to have been used for unauthorised treatment were recovered from the store. While the exact quantity of the seized materials has not been disclosed, authorities confirmed that the items have been taken into custody for further examination.
The District Health Officer stated that preliminary evidence suggesting that clinical activities were being conducted illegally at the shop was found during the inspection.
Owner Refutes Charges
Meanwhile, Sandhya Medicine Store owner Pratish Ray denied the allegations. He refuted claims that an illegal clinic was being operated from the premises.
Ray stated that officials conducted a thorough search of the store and claimed that only medicines were present on the premises. He maintained that no unlawful clinical activities were being carried out.
Health department officials said further investigation into the matter is underway.
