In a disturbing incident, the headmaster of a school in Mayurbhanj district is accused of brutally beating a tribal student after he allegedly tore the duster.

The alleged brutal corporal punishment has come to light at Durdura Government High School under the Jashipur police station area in the district.

As per reports, the headmaster of the school, Hemant Kumar Behera assaulted the Class VIII student, Anil Kumar Singh, inside his office and even outside, in front of other students, using a scale to strike him. The incident occurred after Anil allegedly tore the duster. The student is stated to have fallen ill due to the severity of the beating.

Following the incident, Anil’s parents filed a written complaint at Jashipur police station. Local villagers, the Sarpanch of the gram panchayat, and members of the school management committee have demanded the immediate transfer of the headmaster. They also urged the Mayurbhanj District Education Officer to take appropriate action against the headmaster.

"The child came back home crying and narrated his ordeal of being brutally beaten by the headmaster. He suffered from fever for two days due to the severity of the beating. We had to take him to the hospital for treatment. We don't want this kind of headmaster in the school. He should be transferred. He has also tormented many students during the time of admission. He is always beating and scolding students," rued the student's mother, Kanak Singh.

However, headmaster Behera has denied the allegations of physical assault, claiming that he only scolded the student.
