Bhubaneswar: They are special and can do wonders if a little support is extended to them. We are talking about a group of Divyangs who have now set an example for others by successfully carving out a sustainable livelihood.

Under the Bhubaneswar Open Learning System (OLS), the persons with special abilities are not only making various delicious bakery products, but they are proving their mettle in becoming successful entrepreneurs.

Right from the preparation of various varieties of biscuits and breads at the bakery unit, the divyangs are being taught on how to transport the finished products, deal with customers and other ideas to run the specially-set up counter named ‘Trupti’.

“I am learning as well as earning by running the stall,” said Chumki, a trainee at Bhubaneswar Open Learning System (OLS).
Puja Das, a guardian said, “All the trainees are happy and wait eagerly to start their day with a lot of confidence.”

Kastury Mohapatra of Open Learning System (OLS) informed that it is an attempt to instill self confidence among persons with special abilities so as to change their social behaviour which will help them to become self dependent.

"We are training them to deal with customers and manage monetary transactions. They are learning as well as earning by selling their products,” said Mohapatra.
