Bhubaneswar: The Air Intelligence unit of the Customs department today seized gold weighing 707 grams from a woman flier who arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport from Dubai.

Sources said value of the gold seized from the woman is worth nearly Rs 24 lakh.

The Customs officials seized the gold from a bag carried by the woman who arrived at the airport after boarding an Air India flight in Dubai. The woman hailing from Maharashtra was subsequently detained by the officials and a further investigation was launched, informed sources.

On February 19, gold bars weighing around 1 kg were seized from a lady passenger who arrived from New Delhi via flight no- AI-077. The Revenue Intelligence officials intercepted her and found eight gold bars concealed inside her personal baggage.
