Girl student dies by suicide in Koraput over 'blackmail and harassment'

A girl student allegedly died by suicide after facing sustained mental harassment and blackmail in the Gadiaguda area under Dasmantpur block of Koraput district in Odisha. The incident has sent shockwaves across the locality and raised serious concerns over harassment and the safety of young students.

According to preliminary information, the student was allegedly subjected to continuous mental torture, threats, and blackmail, which reportedly pushed her into severe distress. Family members and locals have alleged that the harassment had been ongoing for some time, causing immense psychological pressure on the victim.

According to a complaint lodged by the family, the student was under severe psychological pressure after being repeatedly threatened that her photographs would be made viral. The family has alleged that the miscreants were also forcing her to maintain physical relations, which caused extreme mental distress.

The incident came to light after the girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances. Upon being informed, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
