Gas cylinder blast leaves woman seriously injured in Balasore
A serious gas cylinder blast in Balasore town on Saturday left a woman critically injured while she was cooking at Patrapada area under Sunahata police limits.
According to reports, the woman was cooking on a gas stove on the terrace when the cylinder suddenly exploded, causing severe burns to her upper body. On hearing the screams, neighbours rushed to her help and immediately informed the authorities.
The injured woman was initially admitted to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for emergency treatment. Due to the severity of her burns, she was later transferred to a specialized medical facility in Cuttack for advanced care.
The local police have registered a report and are investigating the cause of the gas cylinder explosion. Preliminary findings suggest that improper handling, a leak in the cylinder, or using an old, faulty cylinder could have triggered the accident. Authorities have urged residents to ensure cylinders are properly installed and to avoid cooking near open flames if a leak is suspected.
