Panic gripped the Cuttack District Judge Court on Friday after an email threatening a bomb explosion was received, prompting immediate security measures and evacuation of the court premises. The incident is the latest in a series of bomb threat emails targeting court complexes across Odisha.
Following the threat, the entire Court campus was evacuated as a precautionary measure. Court proceedings were temporarily disrupted, and litigants, lawyers, and court staff were asked to vacate the premises to ensure safety.
Security agencies immediately launched a thorough search operation inside the court complex. A bomb disposal squad was pressed into service and conducted an extensive anti-sabotage check, while police personnel cordoned off the area to restrict public movement during the operation.
Senior police officials reached the spot to supervise the search and assess the credibility of the threat. Preliminary investigation revealed that the threat was received via email, and efforts are underway to trace its source and identify those responsible.
Officials said no suspicious object had been found so far, but the search operation would continue until the entire premises is fully sanitised.
Earlier, on January 8, similar bomb threat emails were received by the district courts in Cuttack, Deogarh, and Sambalpur, triggering security alerts and precautionary searches at those locations.
