Rayagada: Students of Bhakurguda residential school in Rayagada district became ambassadors of United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) after their dance performance was featured in the musical video of the United Nations agency.

The agency shared the 3-minute musical video on its social media handle recently to mark its 70th anniversary in India. The video showcased the dance performances of students of many states, including Odisha.

The students and teachers of Bhakurguda School expressed happiness after finding a place in the music video of the international agency and termed it to be a proud moment.

“We have performed the folk dance of tribals of undivided Koraput district at many places and received appreciation. And now UNICEF also featured our dance in its music video,” said Sanjana Kadraka, a student.

“Our dance is mainly performed by tribals during agricultural season. We adopted the dance form and it is a matter of immense pleasure that UNICEF has featured it in their musical video,” said another student, Rajendra Kausalya.

Dwitichandra Shah, a teacher of the school said, “UNICEF has prepared the music video and shared it on their social media handle. The video was prepared by a world-class filmmaker. As they adopted our dance performance, it is certainly a matter of pride for us.”
