At least five persons lost their lives in separate accidents reported from different parts of Odisha, including Dhenkanal, Puri and Nayagarh districts on Friday.
The incidents involved a truck crashing into a house, a collision between a Hyva truck and a motorcycle, and a motorcycle hitting a roadside tree.
Truck Crashes Into House
One person died after a truck rammed into a house at Hatibari village under Gandia police station in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Thursday night.
According to information, an eighteen-wheeler truck first collided with a tractor late at night and then crashed into a nearby house. The vehicle broke through the wall of the house and entered the structure.
Asthir Tarai, who was sleeping inside the house at the time, died in the incident. Police reached the spot soon after receiving information and have started an investigation into the circumstances that led to the accident.
Two Dead In Highway Collision
In another incident, two motorcycle riders died and one person was critically injured after a Hyva truck hit a motorcycle at the Dandamukundpur bypass on the Bhubaneswar–Puri National Highway.
Following the collision, one critically injured person was shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment. The identities of the deceased have not yet been established.
Motorcycle Hits Tree
In a separate accident in Bhapur area of Nayagarh district, two youths died after the motorcycle they were travelling on crashed into a roadside tree.
The deceased have been identified as Bir Kishore Dhal and Shankar Biswal of Kalatangi village under Bhapur block.
They were travelling on a motorcycle from Mardarajpur village to Kalatangi village when they lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on the roadside, causing them to be thrown off the motorcycle.
Local villagers rescued the injured youths and admitted them to Khandapada Community Health Centre for treatment, where doctors declared both of them dead.
After receiving information, Khandapada police reached the health centre, seized the bodies and also took custody of the damaged motorcycle involved in the accident.
