Fire at ‘NO LIMIT’ Bar in Bhubaneswar: Was a dance bar running illegally in guise of restaurant?

A major fire broke out at the popular ‘NO LIMIT’ Bar in Bhubaneswar’s Satya Vihar area on Friday morning, creating panic among staff members, customers, and local residents. While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, officials suspect that it may have resulted from an electrical short circuit or an operational lapse. 

Questions have now intensified over what was happening inside ‘NO LIMIT’ bar. 

An exclusive video obtained by OTV shows several young women dancing inside the premises under colourful lighting. A stage setup, multiple women seated around, and loud music playing in the background have raised suspicions about whether the venue was operating as a regular restaurant or functioning as an unauthorised dance bar.

While a detailed investigation is on, reports suggest the bar had been functioning without a valid licence, thereby violating regulatory norms.

As investigations into both the fire and the alleged illegal activities continue, authorities are expected to scrutinise licensing records, operational practices, and electronic evidence to determine the extent of violations at the establishment.

When contacted, Excise Superintendent Debasish Patel revealed that his team had earlier conducted a raid following reports of illegal liquor service. 

“We had received information about unlawful liquor activities. During the raid, we found some individuals smoking hookah inside the premises. However, no liquor was recovered even after a thorough search. Since the establishment does not possess a licence, we had warned the proprietor against engaging in liquor sales,” Patel stated.

“If any rules are found to be violated, appropriate action will certainly be taken as per law,” he added.
