Faith under attack! Maa Charchika Temple robbed amid surge in Odisha shrine thefts

In yet another incident pointing to rising temple thefts across Odisha, miscreants looted gold and silver ornaments from the revered deity at the famous Charchika Temple in Jagatsinghpur. The theft reportedly took place late last night.

The temple staff discovered the missing ornaments early on Friday morning and informed the police.

According to the complaint lodged at the Sadar Police Station, the thieves targeted the idol of Maa Charchika, removing several gold and silver ornaments before fleeing the spot. The intruders are suspected to have taken advantage of the late-night hours when the premises were relatively unguarded.

Theft Triggers Widespread Anger Among Devotees

The incident has triggered widespread anger among devotees, who consider the Charchika Temple a major spiritual landmark in the district. Locals have demanded immediate action and stronger security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance and round-the-clock monitoring.

Devotees have urged authorities to treat this as a wake-up call and introduce stronger safety protocols to protect Odisha’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
