The Excise Department officials on Tuesday uncovered another hidden cache of country liquor in a secret chamber during a raid in the Salia Sahi Birabasa slum in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Officials said the Excise team located the concealed stock after inspecting the premises, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb illicit liquor production in the city.

Earlier, a similar operation in the same area had revealed a country liquor stash hidden inside a bedroom. The excise team had seized and destroyed the stock, and one driver associated with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation was arrested in connection with the raid.

Secret Chamber Reveals Factory Operation

In the latest discovery, another secret chamber was found, indicating a more organised illicit operation. Officials said the chamber housed country liquor production equipment and raw materials, suggesting that the illegal activity was on a larger scale than initially perceived.

Context of Ongoing Enforcement

This follows a previous case reported on October 9, when a large-scale illicit liquor distillery was uncovered in Salia Sahi. During that raid, a secret doorway behind a bedroom table led to a chamber where liquor was being produced using mahula flowers, sugar, and other materials in unhygienic conditions. Officers noted that some of the fermenting mixture had gone stale and was infested with maggots.
