Ekamra Park in Bhubaneswar has transformed into a vibrant hub of colour and fragrance following the inauguration of its annual flower exhibition, drawing large crowds from across the city. A heavy turnout was recorded on the opening day as visitors flocked to the park from early morning to experience the diverse floral displays.
The exhibition features a wide array of indigenous and exotic flowers, creating a visually striking and aromatic atmosphere. Varieties such as lilies, salvias, orchids, chrysanthemums, dahlias, gerberas, marigolds and roses are on display, turning the park into a major seasonal attraction. Visitors are also being offered the opportunity to purchase flower plants and saplings, while many were seen capturing photographs amid the elaborate floral arrangements.
The exhibition, which will remain open until January 11, was inaugurated by Odisha Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia. The exhibition timing is from 08:30 am to 08:30 pm.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said flowers symbolise human emotions such as love, affection and aspirations, adding that the exhibition showcases the beauty and richness of nature in a meaningful way.
Themes and Cultural Attractions on Display
In addition to floral exhibits, the event blends cultural and recreational elements, including fountain displays, soothing music and themed floral installations. Several themes have been creatively presented through flowers, including ‘Operation Sindoor’, ‘PuriJagannath Temple’, ‘Green City Bhubaneswar’ and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
The exhibition is being organised jointly by the Regional Plant Resource Centre and the Plant Lovers’ Association. This year marks the 37th edition of the event, featuring 50 garden stalls and 40 nurseries, along with multiple theme-based installations.
Plant Lovers’ Association president Khirod Panigrahi said a wide variety of orchids, succulents, bonsai, roses, dahlias and other plants have been showcased. He added that the overall ambience of the exhibition has been designed to offer visitors a relaxing and refreshing experience.
