Ekamra and Jatni to get new roads worth Rs 12cr

The projects aim to improve road connectivity, ease travel and benefit thousands of residents by strengthening key transport links in the region.

Bhubaneswar Member of Parliament (MP) Aparajita Sarangi on Sunday laid the foundation stones for three major road development projects worth Rs 12 crore across the Ekamra and Jatni Assembly segments. The projects aim to improve road connectivity, ease travel and benefit thousands of residents by strengthening key transport links in the region.

In the Ekamra Assembly constituency, two road projects have been approved. The first involves the construction of a 5.3-kilometre road connecting the Daya river embankment to the Gangua canal embankment at an estimated cost of Rs 3.96 crore. The second project includes a 4.7-kilometre stretch from the Daya river embankment at Nishtharinanipur to Madhupur (Ranibandh), to be developed at a cost of Rs 3.33 crore.

Road Development in Jatni

In the Jatni Assembly segment, the MP laid the foundation stone for a 6.2-kilometre road between Sundarpada and Botanda. The project is estimated to cost Rs 4.43 crore and is expected to significantly improve local connectivity.

Benefits and Connectivity Boost

Sarangi stated that the three projects together will cover nearly 16 kilometres of road and are expected to benefit more than 25,000 people across seven panchayats. She added that the improved road network will make travel between Pipili and AIIMS-Bhubaneswar smoother and more efficient.

Assuring timely completion, the MP said all projects would be executed as per schedule. Ekamra-Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh and Khurda BJP president Biswaranjan Badajena were present at the foundation-laying ceremony.
