Bhubaneswar: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will probe the fraud and other irregularities at Sardar Rajas Medical College in Kalahandi. Official sources said the ED will conduct a detailed probe to ascertain how permission for admissions was obtained by the college authorities by forging documents.

Moreover, the ED is also likely to summon A. Johnsel Raja, the managing trustee of Selvam Educational and Charitable Trust which was running the Sardar Rajas Medical College and Hospital at Jaring. Raja was earlier arrested by Odisha Crime Branch’s EOW on August 28, 2018.

Selvam Educational and Charitable Trust had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) for the medical college in Kalahandi in 2004.

According to reports, the WODC had provided Rs 10 crore and requisite land for the medical college. However, it is alleged that despite getting all facilities, the Trust managed by Raja failed to complete the infrastructural works that was one of the pre-requisites for making the medical college and hospital operational. However, despite such lapses, money in the form of fees was allegedly collected from students.
