Diwali celebration turns tragic as youth critically injures his hand while bursting crackers

What was meant to be a night of celebration turned tragic in Balasore district on Sunday evening when a young man critically injured his hand while bursting firecrackers near his home. The shocking incident occurred in the Soro police station area, turning Diwali festivities into moments of panic and despair for local residents.

How the Accident Happened

According to reports, the youth was lighting a cracker when it exploded unexpectedly in his right hand, causing severe injuries. The blast was so powerful that it completely damaged his palm. Neighbours rushed to his aid after hearing the explosion and immediately took him to the Soro Community Health Centre for emergency treatment.

Transferred to District Headquarters Hospital

Given the seriousness of his condition, doctors at Soro referred him to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for advanced medical care. Sources say the victim suffered extensive tissue damage and is undergoing treatment under close supervision.
