Diwali 2025: Bhubaneswar Capital Hospital on full alert, additional doctors deployed

With Diwali celebrations set for Monday evening, Capital Hospital in Odisha's Bhubaneswar has made comprehensive arrangements to handle any medical emergency that may arise during the festival. Authorities have ensured that all departments remain on full alert to respond promptly to firecracker-related injuries and other emergencies.

According to hospital officials, 20 additional doctors have been deployed to manage the expected rush of patients. Necessary arrangements, including rooms, beds, and medical equipment, have also been made. The hospital administration stated that every precaution has been taken to ensure smooth medical services during the festive period.

Deputy Superintendent of Capital Hospital said, “Every year we manage this, so we are completely prepared as patients visit here regularly. As many as 20 beds have been reserved, four burn wards, and specialists from various departments like eyes, skin, and orthopaedics are on duty till 11 pm. A sufficient amount of medication, such as dressing materials, is available.”

He further added that patients with minor injuries will receive immediate dressing treatment, while those with severe burns or trauma will be attended to in the emergency operation theatre. Surgeons and emergency staff have been placed on duty to handle any critical cases.

The state government and hospital authorities have remained on alert in previous years as well, given that several firecracker-related accidents are often reported during Diwali. This year, too, all necessary measures have been taken to ensure public safety and timely medical response, said reports.
